North Aegean
Islands with an identity of their own: Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Ikaria and Lemnos.
About the region
The North Aegean is a group of large islands close to Turkey, quiet and rich in local produce: ouzo and sardines on Lesvos, mastic on Chios, wine on Samos, longevity on Ikaria. Tourism here is slower and more local than in the Cyclades.
What makes this region special
- Molyvos, the castle and the Petrified Forest on Lesvos
- The mastic villages of Chios
- The Heraion and Pythagoreion of Samos
- The festivals and hot springs of Ikaria
- The dunes and beaches of Lemnos
