Greece travel guide
Where to go in Greece, when to go and how to get around: regions, destinations and guides written by people who have been there.
Start with a region
Greece is a mainland, a few hundred inhabited islands and mountains that most visitors never see. Pick a region first: each region page says what it is known for, the best months to go and lists every destination we cover there.
When to go
Summer suits the islands and the beaches, but it is also the busiest and hottest time. Spring and autumn are good for sightseeing, hiking and the mountain villages, and winter opens the ski centres and the quiet towns. Every destination page has the season by season advice.
Getting around
Buses (KTEL) link nearly every town, trains cover the main mainland lines and ferries connect the islands. Each destination page lists the services from the nearest big cities, and the nearby places worth adding to the same trip.
Guides from people who went
Our traveler guides are routes and tips from real trips: what to see in a morning, how many days a place deserves and what to skip.
